Today in Lawrence: Enjoy music indoors and out

The Lawrence City Band Summer Concert Series will be at the South Park Bandstand today.

The heat is on

One more warm day is in store: Temperatures are expected to top out at 87 degrees today, but the heat will break (and storms may roll in) later in the week. So enjoy the warmth and sunshine before the clouds bring the rain on Thursday.

Strike up the band

Come one, come all, and bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets. The Lawrence City Band will present its regular Wednesday concert. This week’s free performance is “Summer in South Park.” The music starts at 8 p.m. at the South Park Bandstand, 12th and Massachusetts streets.

The voice

If you’d rather enjoy music indoors, the KU School of Music Student Recital Series presents tenor Benjamin Cleveland, tenor, in concert. The performance is free and starts at 7:30 at the Robert Baustian Theatre at Murphy Hall on the KU campus.
