The coming school year will be the last one for Stouffer Place Apartments, Kansas University announced Tuesday.

The university’s master plan calls for new science buildings and landscaping in the Irving Hill area where the apartments now stand. In addition, a new apartment complex for single upperclass and graduate students will be built at 19th and Iowa streets on part of the Stouffer Place site. It is expected to be completed in the late spring of 2017.

The university said student housing is still accepting applications from students who want to live at Stouffer Place in the 2014-2015 academic year.

Any housing plans for nontraditional students, or do they just have to find other housing options? KSU took out their older married housing buildings SBD replaced them with new combination married/single apartments. If not for Stouffer, my family and I could not have afforded housing. Too bad.

John, I too hope that there is a plan for married student housing - there seems to be quite a few people taking advantage of these units currently. Let's hope that someone has some ideas other than letting the students fend for themselves.

I think it is great that they are building more science buildings. The university is in need of them!
