Today in Lawrence: Go for a bike ride; music to soothe your soul
Rain early
We may get the rain out of the way early, with isolated thunderstorms forecast for the morning. So keep your umbrella handy for the morning coffee break! However, showers are expected to let up in the afternoon to make way for a partly cloudy rest of the day. And with 71 percent humidity, it might not be the greatest of hair days.
Want to ride?
With bad weather out of the way, wind up your evening with a bicycle ride. The Lawrence Bicycle Club Summer Fun Ride welcomes beginning riders to the sport and recreation of cycling. Tonight’s ride, the first of the season, will cover 10 to 15 miles at 10-12 mph. Arrive at Cycle Works, 2121 Kasold Drive, at 6:15 p.m. for mechanical tips; the ride starts between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m.
Music for the soul
The In the Plains Chamber Music Festival will perform the last of a three-night series at the Fairview Church of Christ, 311 S. High St., Topeka. The In the Plains festival brings together musicians from around the world and includes a pre-concert talk that gives the audience an inside view of how the evening’s music will be performed.
