Henrickson golf tourney: The 10th-annual Bonnie Henrickson Golf Tournament will take place Aug. 23 at Alvamar Golf and Country Club. Registration is now open for singles, pairs and foursomes. All proceeds from the tournament support Kansas women’s basketball and the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Breast Center. The event begins at 1 p.m., with a shotgun start of the four-person scramble. Dinner will follow an afternoon of golf starting at 6 p.m. and includes a live and silent auction. Free State fall softball camp: Free State High will host its five-tool softball camp for grades 4 through 8 over five Sundays this fall at Free State’s varsity softball field. Family Promise golf/auction: The 2014 Family Promise Golf Tournament and Auction Party will be held Sept. 14-15. The Auction Party will be held Sept. 14 at Maceli’s and feature hot food, wine, beer and soft drinks. Bidders will vie for both silent- and live-auction items ranging in value from $25 gift certificates to vacation trips to Florida and Napa Valley. The golf tournament will be held Sept. 15 at Alvamar. Four-person teams will compete in two flights in a scramble format. Registration fees include lunch, golf and cart, dinner and beverages both on and off the course, plus two admissions to the auction party. The events have raised $240,000 over the past five years to benefit homeless children and their families in Lawrence. Non-golfers can purchase tickets to the auction party separately. Trail races: The Lawrence Trail Hawks will host the Hawk 100-, 50- and 26.2-mile trail races Sept. 13-14 on the North Shore Trails at Clinton Lake. The races utilize 25-mile loops on Clinton Lake’s woody, rocky, root-bound North Shore trail system. The races begin and end at Shelter One in the Army Corps of Engineers’ Overlook Park section of Clinton Lake State Park. AAAA third: Ad Astra Area Aquatics placed third in the large-team group and third overall at the LSC Championships over the weekend at the Indoor Aquatic Center. AAAA’s Ainsley Krug and Evan Eskilon were among the individual high-point winners. Event winners were: Marian Frick, 50, 100 200 breast; Krug, 100, 200 back; Danny Christie, 400 IM, 200 fly; Stephen Johnson, 400 free; Cobe Garcia, 50 free; Sydney Sirimongkhon-Dyck, 50 free; and the 11-12 girls 200 medley relay of Ainsley Krug, Frick, Payton Krug and Kasey Dunn.

Catbackers: K-State Athletics’s Catbacker Tour of the state of Kansas hits Lawrence on Aug. 2. The event in Lawrence will take place at Alvamar Country Club and feature a golf tournament during the day and will wrap up with afternoon banquet and auction. The proceeds from the event help to annually fund three $1,000 scholarships for Douglas County high school seniors who attend K-State. The 2014 scholarship recipients are Meredith Morris, Allison Burgess and John Arensberg, all from Free State High. The golf tournament will include a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m., a banquet lunch and guest speakers and a live/silent auction at 2:30 p.m. Non-golfers are welcome to attend only the speakers and auction events.
