FSHS track athletes run at AAU Junior Olympics

? Free State High sophomore Avin Lane finished 10th in the 100-meter dash among 15- and 16-year-olds at the AAU Junior Olympics on Wednesday at Drake University.

After running a time of 11.02 in prelims, Lane missed qualifying for the finals by a tenth of a second when he crossed the finish line at 10.96 seconds.

However, Lane bounced back Thursday to qualify for Saturday’s finals in the 200-meter dash, sprinting to a time of 22.31.

Free State senior Kiara Clark finished 30th in the 17- and 18-year-old girls 100-meter hurdles (15.37) Tuesday, while her Firebirds teammate, senior Gabbi Dabney, took 34th (15.66). Clark also took 19th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.91) at the meet.
