Today in Lawrence: Extra hot, with a side of archaeology and a helping of music, poetry

As expected, the National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a heat advisory for the Lawrence area today. The advisory runs from noon to 9 p.m. A heat advisory is issued when humidity and temperatures are expected to make it feel like 105 degrees or greater outside.

Hot, hot, hot

It will be another hot day today, so be prepared and stay cool. The NWS predicts a maximum heat index between 105 and 110 degrees today. The highest heat values can be expected between 3 and 7 p.m. Stay hydrated, and stay inside if possible!
