LJWorld.com, KUSports.com win Local Media Assocation awards

Several websites produced by The World Co. were winners at the Local Media Association’s 2014 Best in Digital Media Contest, the LMA announced Friday.

LJWorld.com, KUSports.com, KU Sports’ Twitter account, apartments.lawrence.com and Best of Lawrence were all honored.

The World Co. took home six awards in the competition, including LJWorld.com’s first-place honors for best community website and best overall local news site. LJWorld.com competed against sites with 100,001 to 500,000 monthly unique visitors.

“We’re honored that our websites were recognized by the Local Media Association,” said Scott Stanford, general manager of The World Co.’s media division. “Our staff works hard to be responsive, thorough and creative in presenting local news and information digitally, so it’s always great to see that work rewarded. I’m proud of our team.” 

The Local Media Association is a nonprofit, professional trade association representing suburban and community newspapers. The association’s membership is comprised of more than 2,000 newspapers in the United States and Canada.
