Kansas University freshman forward Cliff Alexander suffered a severe right ankle sprain about a week ago at a KU workout and will have his foot immobilized for a “few weeks,” coach Bill Self reported Tuesday night in a text message to the Journal-World. Self stressed that no surgery would be required.

A picture of Alexander in a walking boot had surfaced on Instagram on Tuesday. The picture was taken at a recent team dinner.

“I’m good everybody,” Alexander wrote on Twitter on Tuesday night.

The 6-foot-8 Alexander averaged 24 points, 15 rebounds and six blocked shots his senior year at Chicago Curie High.
