Ottawa High product Kord Ferguson won a gold medal in the discus toss at the USA Track and Field Junior Outdoor Championships last weekend in Eugene, Oregon.

Ferguson won the discus with a throw of 201 feet, becoming only the fifth high schooler to top 200 feet in junior-nationals history.

He also took seventh in the shot put with a toss of 59 feet, 2 inches.

As a top-two finisher in the discus, Ferguson will represent the U.S. at the IAAF World Junior Championships, which are scheduled for July 22-27 in Oregon.
