Today in Lawrence: Great weather for activities, Kidsapalooza, City Band Concert

This is the last Wednesday of the 2014 season for the Lawrence Public Library's Kidsapalooza activities for 5 and 6 year olds.

Weather: perfection

Some might call it a perfect day, weather-wise. With a high of 75 degrees, it will be a pleasant July 2 leading up to the holiday weekend. It is also expected to be a little breezy, with gusts up to 16 mph. Try to get outside and enjoy the day! If you love the heat, the temps are going back up steadily as they reach the 90s toward the end of the weekend and early next week.

Keep kids active

This is the last Wednesday for Kidspalooza, one of the Summer in the City events for kids through the Lawrence Public Library. The activities are geared for children ages 5 and 6 and include science, games, improv, art, and more. Call 843-3833 to register. Bring the gang from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St.

An evening of Americana

Time to satisfy your inner band nerd with an outdoor concert by the Lawrence City Band. This week’s performance honors traditional music for the Fourth of July, “Celebrate America — An American Holiday.” The music starts at 8 p.m. at the South Park Bandstand, 12th and Massachusetts streets. Bring your lawn chairs for an evening of American favorites!
