Two door-to-door pavers were banned from doing business in Kansas and were ordered to repay a total of $8,500 to customers in the state.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said Wednesday that George H. Swartz and James J. Swartz were ordered to repay one Lawrence and two Topeka consumers and were permanently prohibited from doing business in the state for violating the Kansas Consumer Protection Act.

The two Swartz men operated under several business names, including All Star Asphalt, All Star Paving, Asphalt Solutions and All Star Asphalt Paving, Schmidt said.

The defendants admitted that they violated the consumer protection act by failing to provide customers with completed receipts, failing to advise customers of their three-day right to cancel services and cashing consumers’ checks in less than five business days, Schmidt said.

Schmidt warns consumers to be cautious about door-to-door home repair sales people claiming to offer good deals.
