Today in Lawrence: Free Marine Corps band tickets, Red Dog workouts, and the arts at Percolator

Starting today the Lied Center will offer free tickets to the September performance of the U.S. Marine Corps band.

Get your tickets starting for FREE today for “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band concert, presented by The Lied Center, the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics and the Lawrence Journal-World. The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12. Free tickets are only available in person at the Lied Center Ticket Office, 1600 Stewart Drive, beginning at noon today. Limit two tickets per person.

Yeah, I work out

If you’ve been meaning to start working out this summer, or you’re just looking for a way to mix up your routine, the weather will be perfect for Red Dog’s Dog Days workout. You have two to choose from: 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. You can even attend both! The free community workout starts on the west side of South Park, 12th and Massachusetts streets.

Celebrate the arts

Celebrate an evening of Fiction, Poetry, and Music with Ryan Werner, Michael Lambert, and Carey Scott at 6 p.m. at the Lawrence Percolator in the alley behind 913 Rhode Island St. Ryan Werner and Michael Lambert are two Midwestern writers on a rock & roll style tour around the country. Carey Scott, of Lawrence, is a one-man machine gun with bullets made of love.
