Free State’s Lane qualifies for AAU Junior Olympics

Free State High sophomore Avin Lane qualified for the AAU Junior Olympic Games after finishing second in the 15-16 year-old 100- and 200-meter dashes at a qualifier last weekend in Joplin, Missouri.

Lane ran the fastest time in the 100 prelims, but took second place with a time of 11.32. In the 200, he ran a time of 22.71 in second place. He also ran the first leg on his 4×100 relay team, which finished first.

Free State junior Ronald White took ninth in the 100 (11.93) and seventh in the 200 (23.66), qualifying for the AAU Junior Olympics with his top-eight finish in the 200. White also ran the anchor leg on the winning 4×100 relay (43.41).

The AAU Junior Olympics will start July 28 in Des Moines, Iowa.
