Baldwin boys beat Osawatomie; girls tumble

? Chad Berg scored 14 points, Quinn Twombly 13 and Michael Burton 10 to lead Baldwin past Osawatomie, 55-44, on Thursday night in high school boys basketball.

Baldwin (12-1) will play Tuesday at De Soto.

Wellsville — The Baldwin High girls fell to KC Piper, after building 10-point leads in both halves of their semifinal game in the Wellsville Top Gun Classic.

Baldwin scored the first 10 points before letting Piper come back to take a 24-23 lead early in the second half. Baldwin then scored the next 11 points to again go up by double digits, 34-24, with 1:23 to play in the period.

Baldwin’s undoing was the fourth quarter when the Bulldogs were outscored 15-6. Leading, 34-29, when the period started, the Bulldogs hit only 2-of-5 free throws, saw another made free throw wiped out by a lane violation, turned the ball over in crucial situations and missed layups in the final eight minutes.
