Both Lawrence High’s and Free State High’s boys basketball teams impressed during tournaments last week and moved up in this week’s coaches poll.

The Lions are ranked No. 3 in Class 6A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. They jumped up four slots from last week after beating previously undefeated and top-ranked Topeka Highland Park in the Topeka Invitational Tournament championship on Saturday.

The previously unranked Firebirds are now No. 9 in 6A after winning the McPherson Invitational. FSHS beat Shawnee Mission East on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Baldwin became the top-ranked team in Class 4A-Division 1 after winning its home invitational and beating ninth-ranked Augusta in the finals.
