25 years ago: KU student arrested for Mass Street burglary

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Jan. 27, 1989:

Lawrence police this week arrested a 19-year-old man suspected of having shot an arrow through the front window of a downtown clothing store in October 1988 and then stealing more than $1,000 in merchandise. The unnamed man, a sophomore at Kansas University living in the 1000 block of Emery Road, had been booked into the county jail and released after posting $1,000 bail pending his upcoming court appearance. On Oct. 12, the owner of men’s clothing store Mr. Guy. 920 Massachusetts, had discovered a section of the front window had been smashed in and an aluminum arrow, such as is used with crossbows, lying on the floor inside. Several jackets, sweaters, shirts, and bottles of cologne had been found missing from the store’s inventory. Police were not specifying how long the man had been a suspect, saying only that the arrest had been the result of a combination of confidential source information and police investigation.
