FSHS boys advance to McPherson final

— Cole Moreano scored 19 points and Khadre Lane added 16 to help Free State High’s boys basketball team top Wichita North, 67-57, on Friday night in the semifinals of the McPherson Invitational.

The Firebirds (8-4) will face Shawnee Mission East at 7:30 p.m. today in the championship. SM East beat Free State, 52-44, earlier this month.

FSHS opened with an 11-3 lead and never looked back, as Moreano had 13 points when the Firebirds led 34-20 at halftime.

Keith Loneker scored 11 points, and Weston Hack had six points for the Firebirds.
