Letter: Caring culture

To the editor:

I was pleased when Lawrence Memorial Hospital was recently recognized as one of the nation’s 100 best hospitals. I did wonder what standards were met to earn such a high ranking. I learned the answer to my question during a six-week stay in LMH during November and December. The health care and moral support I received from the staff was, without exception, outstanding.

Clearly LMH has successfully created a patient-centered culture which has been embraced by staff in all departments and at every level. I am personally grateful to all staff that treated me with professional competence and compassion. I want to express special gratitude to the nurses who were so effective in meeting my health care needs and providing moral support. LMH, in my opinion, is highly deserving of being designated as one of the 100 best hospitals in the country.
