Newton ? Alan Clothier highlighted the first day of the Newton Tournament Friday for the Lawrence High wrestling team by going 3-0 and advancing to finals of the 182-pound weight class bracket today.

Clothier pinned Mill Valley’s Nathan Anderson in the first round, and followed that up with convincing wins over Jhett Ostrum of Dodge City and Andrew Taylor of Colby.

Xavier Kenney (113 pounds), Garrett Girard (132 pounds), Ryan Bellinger (170 pounds) and Alex Jones will all be competing on the back side of their brackets today.
