Topeka ? Even though I’m becoming one of the older guys around, the past couple of years I have enjoyed using this modern tool called Twitter in covering the Kansas Legislature.

As a reporter, feeding Twitter with messages of 140 characters or less fulfills my desire to get news “out there” as quickly and concisely as possible.

So, if you want nearly instantaneous updates on what is going on in the Kansas Legislature, then follow me on Twitter. My Twitter handle is @ljwrothschild.

I can only be in one place at a time. But don’t despair. There is a whole tweeting army under the Statehouse dome when the session is underway that provides information on what is being done in committees, what was overheard in the hallway and what the governor is up to. These tweeters include legislators, lobbyists, staff, and reporters.

Go to #ksleg in your Twitter search and you will find a Kansas political wonk party going on.

I’ve compiled a short list of tweeters and if you decide to follow them, they will lead you to even more sources of information.

And by providing these sources, I’m not making a statement one way or the other on their political opinions.
