Topeka man identified as victim in fatal turnpike crash

The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the person who died in a Wednesday morning crash near the Kansas Turnpike’s Lecompton exit as a 44-year-old Topeka man.

Thomas J. Alber died in the crash, which occurred at 6:50 a.m. at North 1800 Road just north of the turnpike. According to the KHP, Alber’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on North 1800 Road when it crossed into the westbound left-turn lane and struck a 2010 GMC Acadia.

The Acadia’s owner, Traci L. Eddy, 44, of Lecompton, was not injured. Both Alber and Eddy were wearing seat belts, according to the highway patrol.
