Lawrence High football senior Kyle Wittman was selected as a 2014 Scholar Athlete by the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association and will receive a $1,000 scholarship for when he continues his football career at Baker University.

The GKCFCA, in partnership with the McCarthy Auto Group, picks 11 high school seniors from Kansas and 11 from Missouri for its scholar-athlete team.

Wittman, who earned first-team All-Sunflower League honors, was also chosen as a replacement for the 2014 Kansas Shrine Bowl. He will join Free State senior Keith Loneker in the all-star game that will be played at 7 p.m. on July 26 at Carney Smith Stadium at Pittsburg State University.
