Watkins Museum to open new Lawrence Girl Scouts exhibit Friday

A new exhibit at Watkins Museum of History celebrating the Girl Scouts in Lawrence will open with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The exhibit, “Courage, Confidence and Character: Girl Scouting in Lawrence,” is free and open to the public. For generations, girls have camped at Lawrence’s Hidden Valley and taken part in World Thinking Day events. The exhibit includes stories, scout and leader uniforms, posters, badges, camping gear, handbooks, songbooks and friendship tokens.

Local scouts will perform a flag ceremony and ribbon cutting to open the exhibit. For more information visit watkinsmuseum.org or call 785-841-4109.
