Kansas University Hospital made the 2014 list of “100 Best Hospitals” put out by Healthgrades, a company that develops quality and safety ratings of healthcare providers.

Patients in hospitals on the Healthgrades list are more likely to have successful treatment without major complications and to have a lower chance of dying, according to the company.

In determining the rankings Healthgrades looked at data on patient outcomes and mortality rates from 2010 to 2012.

KU Hospital was the only hospital in the Kansas City area on the list and one of two in Kansas. The other was Via Christi Hospital Saint Francis in Wichita.
