Fourteen Douglas County businesses will receive the Foundation Award, which recognizes local companies for employment growth.

To be eligible for the award, for-profit companies established for more than three years had to increase employment by 20 percent or 20 employees during 2013.

Lawrence Business Magazine and Cadre Lawrence will honor award winners at a ceremony at Alvamar Country Club, 1800 Crossgate Drive., from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Neeli Bendapudi, the dean of the Kansas University School of Business, will speak and Mayor Mike Dever will present the awards. Tickets are $15.

Recipients of the Foundation Award are: ComfortCare Homes; The Results Companies; Pawsh Wash and Pet Health Market; The Granada; The Crystal Image; 360 Energy Engineers, LLC; Pennington & Company; OrthoKansas, LLC; struct/restruct, LLC; Danielsan Electric LLC; Paradise Carpet One; Massage Envy Spa; Googols of Learning and Kurt J. Goeser State Farm Insurance Agency.
