Perry-Lecompton student named National Merit finalist

Adante Ratzlaff

Perry-Lecompton High School senior Adante Ratzlaff has been named a National Merit finalist.

The scholarship competition is sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. and is based in part on scores the students receive on the Preliminary SAT-National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which is taken in their junior year.

Each year, about 1.5 million students take the PSAT-NMSQT exam. Of those, only about 1 percent are named finalists in the scholarship competition. Beginning in March, about 8,000 scholarships of various types will be awarded.

“We are pleased that Adante has been named as a National Merit finalist,” Perry-Lecompton Principal J.B. Elliott said. “He is a fine young man and has had outstanding academic success and we congratulate him.”
