The Lawrence Police Department handed out 28 citations for seat belt infractions over a four-hour period Wednesday during its nighttime seat belt enforcement initiative.

Four drug violations were also discovered during the effort, according to a statement from Sgt. Trent McKinley, a police spokesperson. The citations resulted from a total of 33 traffic stops.
