A 43-year-old Lawrence woman pleaded guilty to three counts of felony forgery for using another person’s checks at area businesses last month.
Rebecca Foster pleaded guilty on Tuesday to the charges as part of a plea agreement that saw additional similar charges dropped. Foster was accused of using checks that were in the name of a woman she knew at several businesses on Jan. 20 in Lawrence without that woman’s permission.
District Judge Peggy Kittel set Foster’s sentencing for March 28. Foster faces 23 months in prison or probation for each count. Kittel also told her on Tuesday that she could also face a $100,000 fine on each count. As part of the agreement, Foster will also pay an undetermined amount of restitution in addition to $280.20 in restitution related to another case in which the state will not file charges.
