DePaul softball rallies past KU

? DePaul scored an unearned run in each the sixth and seventh innings to rally past Kansas University, 3-2, in the final game of the College of Charleston Cougar Softball Classic on Sunday.

“Offensively we didn’t execute, we couldn’t move runners, and our defense let us down,” KU coach Megan Smith said. “We just lost some focus there at the end defensively.”

Kansas (4-4) scored a run in the second and another in the fourth for a 2-0 lead, but DePaul (7-3) scored a run in each of the final three innings.

Alicia Pille (2-2) took the loss. She allowed two unearned runs off three hits over three innings in relief of Kelsey Kessler.

Kansas managed just three hits off Kirsten Verdun (5-1).

KU fill face SIU Edwardsville at 10 a.m. Friday in the Jackson State Tournament in Jackson, Miss.
