Police: Lawrence man who had Silver Alert issued for him found dead night of Feb. 11
According to the Lawrence Police Department, the 65-year-old man who was the subject of a Silver Alert on Tuesday was found dead that same night.
Police said in a statement they discovered the body of George Sundstrom inside his 2006 Toyota Corolla in a parking lot on the west side of Lawrence Memorial Hospital at about 8 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators do not suspect foul play.
Officers discovered him after an individual who had been searching the area for Sundstrom phoned police. The statement said an autopsy was completed Thursday.
A Silver Alert was issued for Sundstrom Tuesday evening after he had last been seen Feb. 6 at his home. Police included the description of his car in the alert, believing that he may have been driving it.
The alert also made note that Sundstrom had a health condition and did not have his medication with him, which he needed daily.
Police then canceled the alert later that night, saying in a news release that they had found Sundstrom, but without providing information on his condition. A coroner’s office confirmed the identity Thursday.
