RunWalk Lawrence: A new training program called RunWalkLawrence is starting in Lawrence. It is a Jeff Galloway program. Galloway represented the U.S. at the 1972 Munich Olympics and has since helped over a quarter of a million people experience the joys and benefits of running. Trail Hawks: The Lawrence Trail Hawks will host the 4th annual “Pi-Day River Rotation Half-Marathon (13.1 miles) and 5K (3.1 miles) Trail Race on Sunday, March 16, 8 a.m., on the Kansas River trail system. The Pi-Day River Rotation Half Marathon Trail Race begins and ends by the Kansas River Trails trailhead, just off 8th and Oak Streets in North Lawrence. The race course is a winding, twisting, mostly smooth trail with a few roots and inclines sprinkled in for fun. The half-marathon is a three-loop course, alternating between two approximately counter-clockwise loops and one clockwise. The 5K runners will race one 3.1-mile loop. The race features awards for the first three men and women finishers, and Pi Day running shirts will be provided for entrants. Volunteers will serve up homemade pie at the finish line.
