Two students named finalists for National Achievement Scholarship Program

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced that two seniors in the Lawrence school district have been named finalists in the National Achievement Scholarship Program.

Hussam Khatir of Lawrence High School and Alexa Haromon-Thomas of Free State High School are now eligible for consideration for the 2014 scholarships, which will be announced in April.

The National Achievement Scholarship Program is an academic competition established in 1964 to provide recognition for outstanding black American high school students.
