Memorial service planned for homicide victim Harold Sasko

Harold Sasko

Friends of Lawrence homicide victim Harold Sasko are planning a memorial service for him this weekend.

The service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th St. in Topeka. Refreshments will be served following the service, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Sasko, 52, was found dead Jan. 17 inside his house in the 2900 block of West 26th Street. A 19-year-old woman who lived with him, Sarah B. Gonzales McLinn, has been charged with first-degree murder in his death.

Sasko was divorced and had a teenaged daughter who lived most of the year with her mother in Texas. He owned the Lawrence CiCi’s Pizza franchise as well as two more in Topeka. Acquaintances have said McLinn previously worked for Sasko and that she had been living in his house since 2012 because she was going through hard times and trying to get on her feet.

Through a friend of Sasko’s, his siblings, who live out of state, declined requests for interviews, saying they are in mourning and citing the ongoing homicide investigation.
