LHS boys No. 2 in 6A ranks; FSHS girls at No. 10

The Lawrence High boys basketball team moved up a spot in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll, which was released Monday. The LHS boys are ranked No. 2 in Class 6A after beating Leavenworth, 82-60, on Friday. Previously top-ranked Blue Valley Northwest lost to Blue Valley North, and Olathe East moved into the top spot.

Meanwhile, Free State’s girls basketball team is ranked No. 10 in 6A after winning two of three games at the Firebird Winter Classic last weekend. The Firebirds broke into the rankings after a 54-39 victory over previously ranked Hutchinson on Saturday. FSHS’s boys basketball team fell out of the rankings without playing a game last week.

Baldwin remains the top-ranked team in Class 4A-Division 1 after a win over Osawatomie on Thursday, while Ottawa is ranked No. 5 in 4A-Divison 1.
