Kansas-Samford women’s basketball at a glance

Who: Kansas vs. Samford

When: 7 p.m. today

Where: Allen Fieldhouse

Series: First meeting

No place like home

All eight of the Jayhawks’ victories have come at home this season and KU is 8-1 at Allen Fieldhouse. Adding to that total shouldn’t be too difficult against a Southern Conference team in Samford that has lost four of its last six — dropping games to Troy, Auburn, Tulane and UCLA, with a blowout victory over UAB and a 13-point win against Alabama State mixed in. Samford’s RPI is 236th in the nation (KU ranks 93rd), and the Bulldogs have failed to hit their 60.5 points per game average in four straight games.

Streaking

Backup freshman guard Terriell Bradley went for a career-high 21 points in KU’s overtime loss at Creighton a week ago. The 5-foot-7 guard from Arlington, Texas, made six of her 10 field-goal attempts, including 2-for-5 from three-point range, and was even better at the free-throw line, where she nailed all seven attempts. Bradley also passed out four assists, matching her season and career highs.

Slumping

Though senior guard Asia Boyd comes off the bench for Kansas, she averages 22.5 minutes a game and is a capable scorer, having averaged 11.0 points per game as a junior. Boyd has played three straight games without scoring in double figures. The 6-1 senior from Detroit has averaged 6.0 points in the process, while making seven of 17 shot attempts in 75 minutes of action.
