Today in Lawrence: Skating and fine art to round out your holiday week
Sun, then clouds
The day is starting out right, but the mostly sunny skies in the morning will turn into overcast skies in the afternoon. The high will be 42 degrees with a slight chance of rain. Tonight’s overnight low will be 33 degrees.
Frozen treat
Have you put your blades on the ice in Lawrence yet? If you haven’t tried it, take the family to the ice skating rink next to the Lawrence Public Library. The cost is $3 and that includes skate rental (don’t bring your own skates — the ice is synthetic and skate blades must be super sharp). The rink is open from 1 to 8 p.m. today, on the plaza next to the library, 707 Vermont St. This could be your new holiday tradition!
Squeeze in some art
If you have some free time during the holidays, today is the day to check out the Lawrence Arts Center — it closes at 5 p.m. today and will reopen at 9 a.m. Jan. 3. So stop by today and check out the many exhibits that make the Arts Center a unique and meaningful art experience in Lawrence, with displays from artists Nick Vaccaro, Karen Matheis, John Ferry and more. The Arts Center is at 940 New Hampshire St.
