Kansas women at a glance: Jayhawks travel to Creighton

Who: Kansas (8-3) at Creighton (6-5)

When: 6:05 p.m. Monday

Where: D.J. Sokol Arena, Omaha, Nebraska

Series: KU leads, 25-12

One for the road

The Jayhawks have only ventured outside of Allen Fieldhouse twice this season, and neither game ended with a Kansas victory. Tonight is KU’s last chance to earn a road win in the nonconference portion of the schedule. The path through the Big 12 figures to be treacherous, with No. 3 Texas, No. 9 Baylor, No. 19 Oklahoma State and No. 22 West Virginia, to name a few, all on the horizon. Kansas has won 11 straight games against Creighton.

Streaking

KU freshman Lauren Aldridge might be new to college basketball, but she is catching on quickly. The 5-foot-7 guard from Marshfield, Missouri, who has started every game, ranks fifth in the Big 12 in assists (4.4 per game), fourth in free-throw percentage (.886) and 11th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5).

Slumping

When Chelsea Gardner has one bad game, that’s a slump. On the Naismith Trophy Top 50 watch list, the 6-3 senior forward scored 14 points or more in each of KU’s first 10 games. Foul trouble cost her a productive outing in Game 11, when Gardner played 20 minutes but shot just 1-for-5, scored two points and totaled only two rebounds. On the season, she is averaging 17.6 points and 7.7 boards.
