Lawrence man sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for filing false tax return

A 31-year-old Lawrence man was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison Wednesday for filing a false tax return, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said in a news release.

Bradley Stoneking was sentenced after pleading guilty to making false statements in his 2010 income tax return.

Stoneking admitted to falsely claiming federal tax withholdings on gambling winnings in the amount of approximately $330,000. The federal tax withholding on his gambling winnings was actually $300, Grissom said.
