Christmas dinner organizers looking for food donations

Community Christmas Dinner organizers are seeking food donations to fill the plates at its annual Dec. 25 dinner at a local church.

The dinner, organized by a Lawrence-based ad-hoc group, will be held at First United Methodist Church, 946 Vermont St., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The group is asking for members of the public to contribute 55 12- to 15-pound turkeys and 40 five-pound hams to feed the nearly 1,200 people who attend the dinner.

To contribute, contact Deb Engstrom at 785-218-9347 or deb5550@att.net by Dec. 17. Meat will be collected at First United from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 18.

Pies can also be donated at First United anytime after 6 a.m. Dec. 25, or by contacting Engstrom to arrange a pick-up.

Anyone who would like to arrange a meal delivery can do so by calling 785-841-1516 after 6 a.m. Dec. 25.
