Stieben paces Veritas boys
Manhattan ? Chad Stieben poured in a game-high 27 points to help the Veritas Christian boys basketball team defeat Flint Hills, 85-53, on Saturday.
The Eagles (4-0) jumped to a 20-4 lead in the first quarter and held Flint Hills to 33 percent shooting. Stieben also led Veritas in rebounds with 13 as the Eagles dominated the boards, 57-27.
The Eagles have outscored their four opponents by an average of 30 points per game.
“It was one of those games that was a gut-check for us, and we stepped up,” Veritas coach Carl Huslig said.
Veritas will play Eagle Heights at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Kansas City, Mo.
