City players make all-league football

Five city football players earned first-team All-Sunflower League honors for their play this season.

Lawrence High junior running back J.D. Woods, junior defensive end and right tackle Amani Bledsoe and junior middle linebacker Price Morgan were selected for the first team, along with Free State senior left tackle Scott Frantz and senior defensive end Shane Hofer. Bledsoe was a first-team selection on both sides of the ball.

Free State junior quarterback Bryce Torneden, senior receiver and cornerback Joel Spain and senior linebacker Carson Bowen were chosen for the second team.

The following FSHS players also earned an honorable mention: Torneden (safety), Spain (kick returner), Hofer (offensive line), Paul Bittinger (linebacker), Andrew Keating (cornerback and receiver), Tye Carter (receiver and punter), Drew Tochtrop (linebacker), Daniel Clarke (kicker), Michael Georgie (defensive line), Coleman Houk (offensive line), Josiah LeBrun (offensive line) and Blake Murray (defensive line).

Honorable mention choices from LHS were Nyle Anderson (kick returner), Ivan Hollins (cornerback), Cy Burghart (linebacker), Tanner Green (linebacker), Alan Clothier (defensive back), Cole Greenwood (offensive line), Trey Georgie (defensive line), Trey Moore (running back), Jacob Unruh (offensive line) and Ellis Springe (kicker).
