Style Scout: Cameron Gentry Iturri-Carpenter

Clothing details: Shoes, gift from friend in Cali, they’re from the ’70s; pants, thrift store, don’t remember price; shirt, gift.

Name: Cameron Gentry Iturri-Carpenter

Age: 25

Hometown: Somona, Calif.

Time in Lawrence: About a year

Relationship status: I have a close friend.

Occupation: At the moment, I’m just freelancing.

Dream job: It would have to be in the arts, such as painting or music.

What were you doing when scouted? Strolling down Mass. Street

Describe your style: My style is usually dedicated by items of clothing that my friends either get for me, I find for free or are very cheap.

Fashion trends you love: I like when it’s very obvious that a person is comfortable in his or her skin. So I like when I meet people that are clad in “comfortability.”

Fashion trends you hate: When somebody is dressed, metaphorically speaking, in skin that isn’t comfortable for them. You know, when someone follows a trend to feel included, etc. But it actually isn’t you. However, wear whatever you want but just wear it for the right reasons.

Fashion influences: I get my ideas and influences from just having fun. If it feels good to tear up a shirt, then do it. I had a friend last week who is not a barber cut my hair. The experience itself was fun, and that is the expression of what I want to look like.

What would you like to see more or less of in Lawrence? More murals and beautiful art on the side of buildings. Less of? That’s not my place to say. The only changes I want to see in Lawrence is myself.

Tattoos or piercings: Not really. Just a single (straight) line.

What type of music do you like? Jazz, rock and roll, funk, country and even some pop music.

Tell us a secret: I have an irrational fear of being shot in a drive-by.
