Renowned sculptor to host assemblage workshop for kids

Fantastic realist sculptor Kris Kuksi is hosting a 3-D assemblage workshop at the Lawrence Arts Center this month.

The workshop — for children ages 7 to 12, along with a parent or guardian — is an exploration into the process of taking random bits of objects and turning them into an interesting sculptural arrangement.

An expert in this area, Kuksi is a world-renowned artist currently working out of a church-turned-studio in North Lawrence. His pieces are made entirely from model kit parts, kitsch items, jewelry and other odds and ends. His assemblages have been sold to many high profile celebrities, musicians and his biggest client, Nike CEO Mark Parker.

The workshops will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 23 and 30. All materials will be provided. Tuition is $45. Register online at lawrenceartscenter.org.
