Louisville, Ky. ? Former Kansas University golfer Gary Woodland shot 1-over 72 during Thursday’s opening round of the PGA Championship.

On the front nine at Valhalla Golf Club, Woodland had eight pars and bogeyed the par-4 No. 5 hole. He played the back nine in even-par 36, with birdies on the par-5 10th and par-4 16th and back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 14 (a par 3) and 15 (a par-4).

Tied for 79th overall, Woodland will tee off at 7:05 a.m. today.
