Today in Lawrence: Hot weather, farmers’ market and bloggers convene

The Lawrence Farmers' Market has more than 100 vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices.

Heat is on

Hopefully the clouds will help lessen the feel of the heat that will press down on Lawrence again today. A high of 97 degrees is forecast, with 60 percent humidity. The evening will cool to about 69 with a few clouds. Rain is expected in the evening (there’s a 40 percent chance), with more heat and rain to come on Wednesday and Thursday.

Mood music

The Lawrence Farmers’ Market is in full swing this evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at 824 New Hampshire St., but there will be live music for your shopping entertainment. Join more than 100 vendors at the farmers’ market for fine, locally grown produce and goods, and enjoy music from Grifters and Shills. The music starts at 4 p.m.

Blog night

Kansas-based mom and founder of the popular blog People I Want to Punch in the Throat, known only to readers as Jen, gathered 36 other mom bloggers to share stories about the men in their lives. The compilation, “I Just Want to Be Alone,” shares stories that make us laugh, cry and wince. Meet the collaborators at “Mom’s Night Out 2: Back with a Vengeance” from 7 to 8:30 in the Crystal Room at the Eldrige Hotel, 701 Massachusetts St.
