• The Jayhawk Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management will hold its monthly meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 12 at Pachamamas, 800 New Hampshire St. The meeting will include a presentation by Grant Arends titled “Putting Retirement Back Into 401(k) Education.” Registration can be completed at Pachamamas beginning at 11:15 p.m.

• An engineering team from Kansas University’s School of Engineering will compete for the Collegiate Traffic Bowl Grand Championship in Seattle. KU’s team is one of nine gathering for the traffic engineering competition, which will be held Aug. 10-13. Civil engineering graduate students Shivraj Patil, Vishal Sarikonda Reddy and Mazharali Udaipurwala, all of India, and undergraduate Allison Bruner, of Topeka, will represent KU.
