KU women’s golf in third at Big 12

? Kansas University sophomore Yupaporn Kawinpakorn and freshman Pornvipa Sakdee are both in the top 10 as the Jayhawks sit in third place after two rounds of the Big 12 women’s golf championship at the University of Texas Golf Club.

Kawinpakorn was in third place after a 1-over-par 73 Saturday, and Sakdee was tied for 10th after an even-par 72. Kawinpakorn had a 2-under 142 total, Sadkee a 148.

The Jayhawks were third in the team standings with a 592 total, trailing Oklahoma (583) and Texas (586).

KU junior Minami Levonowich and senior Thanuttra Boonraksasat both carded 75s Saturday. Levonowich was tied for 24th (151) and Boonraksasat 38th (157). KU senior Meghan Potee shot a 76 for the second straight day and was tied for 26th (152).

Natalie Karcher of Texas leads the individual portion with a two-round score of 4-under 140. Oklahoma’s Chirapat Jao-Javanil was one stroke behind Karcher.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes today.
