Prosecutors will try as an adult an 18-year-old Yuma, Ariz., man charged last year with multiple sexual offenses.

The man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday in Douglas County District Court and waived a separate hearing that would have determined whether he could be prosecuted as an adult.

District Judge Kay Huff found that he met the criteria and waived him to an adult status. A trial date has not been set as the state is in the process of dismissing the juvenile case and filing an adult case, according to a spokeswoman for the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.

The man has been in jail since November on a $150,000 bond. He is charged with 12 counts: six counts of rape, multiple sodomy and battery counts, and one count of kidnapping in connection with incidents allegedly involving three teenagers from September 2011 to August 2013.

Each count involved offenses alleged to have occurred before the man turned 18 in August 2013. He was arrested on Nov. 4 in his hometown of Yuma, Ariz., and brought to Douglas County to be charged later that month.
