Softball opening: Lawrence 5 Tool Softball is looking to fill two to three spots for a competitive 2014 spring/summer season. Scholar-athlete dinner: The Sunflower Chapter of the National Football Foundation will hold its 21st Annual Scholar-Athlete Dinner at 6 p.m., April 23 at the Anderson Football Complex at Kansas University’s Memorial Stadium. Dr. Sheahon Zenger, KU athletics director, will be the keynote speaker. Trail race: The Lawrence Trail Hawks will host the fifth-annual Shoreline Shuffle 5K Trail Run on May 4 on Clinton Lake’s North Shore Trails. The Shoreline Shuffle begins and ends at the Southwest corner of Campground One, in Clinton Lake State Park. The marked course includes difficult rocky, root-bound trails; smooth, flat, easy trails, scenic lake views; and long shady stretches through old-growth forest. Sunflower wrestling: Sunflower Kids Wrestling Club grapplers Grayson Hagen and Eric Streeter both qualified for the All-American rounds at Brute Nationals Friday. On Sunday, in Independence, Mo., Hagen will wrestle for a national title in the first-grade 61-pound bracket, and Streeter will wrestle for seventh place in the third-grade 70-pound bracket.

Kickball league: A co-rec kickball league is available through Eudora Parks and Recreation. The Friday night league needs teams for an eight-game guaranteed schedule with an end-of-season tournament. iCan Bike Camp: Directors of the iCan Bike Camp are recruiting campers and volunteers the event June 9-13 at Baldwin High.
