Liberty, Mo. — Free State used a six-run sixth inning for a 7-5 victory over Leavenworth on Tuesday in a high school baseball game played at William Jewell College.
Cameron Pope had a double and an RBI for the Firebirds, and Ryan Cantrell went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Ryan Stagg earned the win.
“It was sloppy ballgame all the way around, on both sides,” Free State coach Mike Hill said. “Sometimes you have to win in a not-so-clean fashion, and tonight was one of those times.”
The Firebirds (5-3) will host Shawnee Mission North on Thursday.
